Spooky Spider Cookies

Spooky Spider Cookies

Our goal was to create the spookiest spiders for Halloween, but they didn’t turn out all that scary. That’s okay, although our spiders may not give you the creeps, they are absolutely delicious! We used a gluten-free orange shortbread recipe with dark chocolate .

🍊 Ingredients:

  • 100g caster sugar
  • Zest of 2 medium oranges (organic unwaxed, ideally)
  • 130g softened unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 260g plain gluten-free flour blend
  • 60g cornstarch
  • ½ tsp xanthan gum (if not in the flour blend)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 40g freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 150g dark chocolate (60-70% dark), tempered chocolate

🍊 Instructions:

  1. Combine sugar, orange zest, softened butter and vanilla, mix well.
  2. Sift in flour, cornstarch, xanthan gum, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  3. Add orange juice, knead into a smooth ball.
  4. Roll out the dough between parchment paper, about 1cm thick and make the cookies, take to the oven for 1h.
  5. The fun part: Use your tempered chocolate for the final step. We had the perfect mold to create the spiders’ bodies, and then we just added the legs.

Enjoy this dessert at the comfort of your homes!
